Submitted by michael.montani on

We are excited to announce the release of the new UN Street Map. This version features a redesigned visual style aimed at improving readability, usability, and visual harmony across all platforms.

What’s New?
  • Improved cartographic styling for enhanced readability across both urban and rural environments.
  • Refined land use/land cover layer to provide richer geographic context.
  • Enhanced transport network visualization, including roads, tracks, and key infrastructure—now with subtle grey tones and improved road hierarchy, aligned with cartographic standards.
  • Standardized symbology and labeling in line with UN geospatial guidelines, ensuring consistency across platforms.
  • Expanded POI (Points of Interest) categories, with distinct new symbols for hospitals and pharmacies—previously represented by the same icon.
  • Optimized contrast and color schemes to improve accessibility and usability in the field.
  • Seamless integration with mission-specific layers and operational dashboards for streamlined situational awareness.

This new version will now serve as the default basemap for UN Maps-supported applications.

Whether you're planning logistics, supporting peacekeeping operations, or conducting humanitarian assessments, the new UN Street Map helps you see the world more clearly.
