Map for UN Maps

| UN Photo / UN Image Map (extract)

UN Mappers can access a series of tools for the editing of geospatial information. In collaboration with the Humanitarian OpenStreetMap Team (HOT), volunteers can access the HOT Tasking Manager to map an area all together in a collaborative fashion. Furthermore, passionate mappers can be called during UN Mappers activations, which are massive calls for mapping aid in areas hit by disruptive natural or humanitarian disasters.

UN Mappers Collaborative Projects

You can access all the currently active UN Mappers collaborative mapping projects at the Humanitarian OpenStreetMap Team Tasking Manager web application.

All the projects show where the mapping activity is located and explain in detail the purpose of the project. The projects also offer very detailed instructions of the features to be mapped and how to map them. Naturally, these instructions are available in many different languages.

The user can select one task to "lock" an area for its contributions. Once the user finished, can describe the mapping activity that has been performed and submit the task as completely mapped or still to be finished. The user can also validate tasks submitted by other users.

UN Mappers Activations

UN Mappers Activations are events in which your mapping help is needed the most. During these activations you will be called together with other UN Mappers to bring support to a natural disaster or a humanitarian catastrophe that recently happened.

Through these massive collaborative editing campaigns, volunteers are able to generate a massive amount of data on a very short amount of time. All the data is on OpenStreetMap, so it will affect all the UN Maps features, making them more precise and efficient.

You can be surely reached out for a UN Mappers Activation if you are subscribed to the UN Mappers Newsletter or if you follow the UN Mappers social media.
