Our impact
Through this, we are able to complete 48 mapsheets that supported two (2) missions:
- United Nations Support Office in Somalia (UNSOS)
- United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in the Central African Republic (MINUSCA)
In addition, we supported the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) through generating the baseline map data that is being used to develop a new master plan for agriculture along the Senegal River in Mauritania. Read more here.
Looking Ahead
This year 2026, we hope to continually provide opportunity for volunteers to contribute to the UN operations, this includes:
- Specific and targeted open mapping trainings to advance mapping skills and learn new tools
- Improve our existing courses and add new courses in our Learning Hub
- Champion and recognize our exceptional contributors in UN Mappers channels i.e. social media and website
- Follow through our pilot project and introduce our UN Maps Community Ambassadors
Our heartfelt gratitude to YOU, UN Mappers, for supporting UN Maps. Every maps edits you make provide a backbone to ensure smooth operations in the field and long lasting peace.
